SCULPTUREs click a picture to go on
I started sculpturing in November 2006 at the 'open atelier' of Ada Andrea in the village of Oudenhoorn near Rotterdam. The open atelier consists of a group of 5 to 15 artists that sculpture on every last saturday of the month. I loved it !
In 2008, I built the skeleton for a bronze statue, the surrender, a fruit bowl. Bronze is nearly unbreakable, which is good when the're small kids around. Also, bronze can be reproduced which seemed perfect for me as I don't make a lot. So, I joined a course in the 'cire perdue' method in studio Lemarez in Rijsoord to learn about the process. For the course, I made the smaller figures backbone and unbreakable. After that, Lemarez' Raymond built a reproducing form for surrender. Surrender can be reproduced, the other statues are unique. In June 2010, I joined a second course at Lemarez. This time, I made a slightly larger statue: escape from an angel. Again, it was fabulous to be there with Ada's ceramist' companions! Now we the course was given by Paul Lagrouw, an artist himself and a terrific teacher. The last two bronze statues have round, foot-stones of Belgian stone. Feel wellcome to express your views on any of the statues, by mailing me !
